CNC - Computer Aided Design
With constantly new cameras being developed the usage cycle is also shortened for underwater photographers. Since 1999 SEACAM has been thinking about a more flexible, more modern and more precise way of manufacturing and in intensive co-operation with aluminum processing companies we develop the complete manufacture of a housing out of one massive block. The challenge here is to keep in its completeness the shapely design which results in cost intensive run times on the CNC machines.
As a first project the Nikon D100 is designed entirely on the computer and milled out of one massive block. The precision and quality of such a fabrication method are superior to the conventional mold technology. The shorter operative time therefore meets the requirements of the quick-lived product cycle in digital photography.
The professional housing for the Nikon D2/D2x is presented at the DEMA.
